Melessa grew up on a farm in Minnesota and attended Gibbon-Fairfax-Winthrop High School. She studied education and English at the University of Minnesota at Morris, and received her J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law, in St. Paul, Minnesota. She, her husband Curtis, son Curt, and daughter Annie currently live in Minnetonka, Minnesota. Melessa is eternally grateful for the deep love given to her by her grandmothers.
